Year 10 Legal Eaglets have their Day in Court

On 8 May, Hillcrest’s Year 10 Legal Studies class visited the Brisbane Supreme Court, providing them with the invaluable opportunity of participating in a seminar presented by a judge in a courtroom. In this seminar, the judge gave fascinating personal insights into how our adversarial court system works in real life. This was followed by the full immersion of the students in the cut and thrust of jury trials dealing with crimes such as murder, manslaughter, grievous body harm and drug trafficking. Real world experiences are regarded as an essential part of Senior Legal Studies at Hillcrest, with this term’s topic of ‘Court in the Act’ coming to life in vivid courtroom drama for our ‘Legal Eaglets’.
